Preparation

An infrastructure project as big as the installation of a second lock in Waasland Port requires extensive preparations. This involves much more than just developing the site prior to the construction activities. A whole programme has to be undertaken, involving such things as assessing the social costs and benefits and investigating the environmental impact. There is also the design of the building, the actual call for tenders and the numerous advisory opinions and permits.
